American Heritage Corporation was established in 1968 by Enumclaw’s own Sutherland “Suds” McLean. Our agency has been locally owned and locally staffed since opening its doors, serving the insurance needs of the Enumclaw Plateau.
The agency was originally located on Cole Street, then moved to Griffin Ave and then back to Cole Street in 2014. Sutherland’s son, Walt McLean, purchased the agency when Suds retired in the 1980s. Mike Runland started at the agency after selling his business, Runlands Grocery on Roosevelt Ave and in 2006, Mike purchased the agency from Walt. Teri and Caitlin have now taken over the agency as of 2024 and are ecstatic to carry on the legacy.

We have been through many changes over the years, but the principles that Sutherland McLean built the business on remain the same. That is to provide our clients with quality insurance products and the service to back it up. We have been blessed to provide that service to a large number of residents and businesses on the Enumclaw Plateau. That is truly one of the reasons we have been successful, and we sincerely thank all of our customers for their support.
Teri Schwader

Teri Schwader is a Licensed Agent and the "Accounting Nerd" of our team, bringing over 20 years of expertise to the agency since 2003. A lifelong resident of Enumclaw, WA, Teri feels incredibly connected to this community, where she has lived, worked, and raised a family. Teri’s dedication to serving her hometown is evident in everything she does. She is deeply passionate about helping local families and businesses protect their most valuable assets, from homes and cars to businesses, personal and commercial property, and priceless treasures.
As one of four sisters, Teri understands the importance of family, and she has built her own family values into her work. She is also proud to have her son Kolton join the firm, continuing the family tradition of service and care.
Chelsea Blum
Licensed Agent
Chelsea is a licensed agent in both Property/Casualty as well as Life Insurance. She was raised in Covington and now lives in Enumclaw with her 2 young sons, Gavin and Beau. She is married to her High School Sweetheart Gary.

She loves cooking for her family and thinks the best place in the world is sitting around a campfire with the people she loves enjoying their company! There is no where she would rather be than with her family, out in nature – hiking, camping, swimming or wakeboarding. She loves to volunteer at her Son’s school (go Westwood Cougars!) and support her community whenever she can.
